I joined the team as a freshman and, through hard work and perseverance, became a driver and Rookie of the Year. I have since been named as the team’s first Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. In addition to my role as Senior Project Manager I am on the build and PR teams, and I have been a driver for the past three years. My favorite memory from robotics is from the 2008 game “overdrive”. We had just played our final game in the semi-finals and lost. We took the robot off of the field and put it on the cart. The field was set in such a way that to get back to the pits you had to push your cart in front of the crowd. Though we had just been eliminated from the competition when we walked past our section in the stands EVERYONE from our team was on their feet cheering for us. That was when I really understood what FIRST was about. I am also in NHS and heavily involved in the band and jazz programs at West.
