SMW Viking Robotics
Team #1777 |
David Kautz. My name is David and I have mentored Team 1777 for five years. I’m an electrical engineer for Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technology at the Kansas City Plant. The team’s rookie year, I was volunteered by my son who was a senior that year. I enjoy working with the students as they develop ideas and concepts and guide them as those ideas are turned into an operational robot. I try to provide the team with as many models, examples, and prototype devices as possible, so they can explore solutions to their ideas that are within the team’s time, budget, and manufacturing limits. I have two sons. One son has graduated with an electrical engineering degree and other one is in college and is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering. Both sons have helped mentor the robotic team as their time allows. My wife is very supportive of my efforts. She attends the regional competitions and makes team souvenirs to share each year. |
