The Shawnee Mission West Robotics Team is a team for the sport of the mind, body, and soul.  It integrates science, technology, mathematics, competitiveness, creativity, and most of all FUN.  It allows students to come together from many different backgrounds and levels of skills to create an amazing machine, a robot, to compete against other schools.  The competitions are an all day fun filled event were many high school students share common interests and allow their creativity to stand out and show the world what they can do.  We also have great faculty members and a great professional volunteer to assist the students with the essential real-world engineering skills that you cannot get as a high school student.  Being part of the robotics team opens many doors of opportunities for scholarships as it is a high demanding profession.  From a person who has a chemistry and math background, robotics does not relate to any club or team, it brings our students to a higher level of understanding of the future and in the process the opportunities to attend the top universities or colleges needing those skills they have learned along the way.  For these reasons, I support our Shawnee Mission West Robotics Team.
