Ray Strother

I am currently in my second year as a mentor.  My grandson is a member of the robotics team and Junior at Shawnee Mission West High School.  Last year was very fascinating and exciting with two regional competitions and all the challenges of building a working robot in just six weeks.  My wife Chris, and I have really enjoyed watching the students plan, design, assemble, network and work as a team to be able to compete with the other area schools.

In addition to participating as a mentor for the SMW team I have worked for over 30 years in the transportation industry.  My career started as a diesel technician in Waterloo, Iowa.  For the past 20 years I have been working for Daimler Trucks of North America as a field service representative. I am also a member of the advisory committee for Des Moines Area Community College Diesel and Heavy Equipment program.

This year is shaping up to be another exciting year.  Go TEAM 1777!
